Learn more about the remarkable Becky Anderson below and her advice to every Startup Princess! Enjoy!

Hometown: Orem, Utah

Current Residence: Draper, Utah

Education: BYU Business & Finance Major

Professional Background: I worked at a bank, as an accountant and a legal secretary before I started For Every Body.

What you wanted to be when you grew up: Something in business and a mom of course.

What you are: What I do isn’t what I am. However, I am Chairman/Founder of For Every Body and For Every Home. First and foremost I am a wife/mother/grandmother/daughter/sister and friend to my family. No amount of success can take that away or make it less important.

Brief Summary of your Start Up: I started For Every Body as a retail store in 1995. It has turned to a global wholesale candle manufacturing company. We produce millions of candles every year. It would be fair to say the largest woman owned & privately held candle-manufacturing company in the United States. We ship candles to all the big box retailers as well as all over the world. We have also launched a direct sales division For Every Home in 2008.

Company Website? www.foreverybody.com and www.foreveryhome.net

What inspired you? My daughters, I wanted to teach them the value of hard work and passion.

How long have you been in business? Just starting our 16th year.

How did you fund it? I started by mortgaging my house in the beginning, a huge risk that paid off.

Do you have a Fairy Godmother (or Mentor)? I have had many along the way. At each stage it is a new and different one based on the needs of the business.

Do you belong to any Business Organization or Networking Groups? I have been involved with Ernst and Young and various groups along the way.

Current Business Challenge? The economy and the banking crisis. The banks aren’t lending to business so people are unemployed. When people are unemployed they don’t spend money in big box retailers…..which is where we ship a huge amount of candles. We have had to become creative to keep our sales up during this economy but I’m proud to say we have shown growth and are holding our own.

What are you doing about it? Building all sorts of synergistic relationships with vendors and customers and working on it together.

Favorite motivational quote: “It’s the fast that eat the slow not the big that eat the small.”

Family?Yes, I have a wonderful husband, four beautiful daughters, two step-sons and three grandsons that I adore with all my heart.

If so, how do you balance family and business? It’s difficult at times and my sleep is what has been sacrificed. My kids are all grown and I work with my husband so we do work too many hours…..hate to even admit how many during this economy.

Favorite book? Many, many business books. I am an avid reader and have over 500 in my library. I also have learned I can multitask and listen to books on my iphone while I workout and commute.

What do you do to relax? Read, spend time with my family. I am also a tech junkie……love every Mac.

What do you want to change most about your world? I am pretty happy as I am. Challenges are opportunities and every day is a gift. I don’t want to miss one moment of the ride, good or bad.

What are you most proud of? That I am a woman who has grown a company to 260 employees and we are making a difference in many families lives, here in the US and in China.

What advice would you like to offer other Start Up Princesses? You can be, do or have whatever you want with the proper time management and passion. Go for it.

Favorite Magic Wand (tool/resource)? The Internet and the telephone.

If you could design a tiara, what precious stones would you use? Diamonds are a girl’s best friend right?

Donations to Wildfire Victims

For Every Home, a Utah based fragrance company, is donating $20,000 of their Odor Absorbing Spray to those affected by the “Machine Gun Fire” in Herriman, UT on Monday, September 27 starting at 5 pm at Herriman City Hall.

On Sunday, September 19, a blaze was lit just outside of Herriman, UT. As the fire rapidly approached neighborhoods and communities, over 1,400 homes had to be evacuated. In the days following the thousands of displaced residents were allowed to return to smoke filled homes as the threat of fire was fought back.

For Every Home wants to help Herriman residents remove the smoky smell from their homes and belongings. The technology of their Odor Absorbing Spray is guaranteed to remove smoke smells from fabrics such as clothes, carpets and furniture. It is also safe to be sprayed around children and pets.

Many For Every Home employees have lost homes and belongings due to fire and know the emotions that can be attached to smells. After a neighbor’s house caught on fire, For Every Home employee, Nathan Smith and his wife tried everything they could to get rid of the smoke smell that was in their home. His wife became very emotional when they could not remove the smell as it brought back memories of when her parents house burned down when she was 17. With the proven technology of the Odor Absorbers, For Every Home wants to help people remove the smell of smoke from their homes and alleviate that tumultuous emotional state.

For Every Home will be at Herriman City Hall on Monday, September 27th at 5pm to hand out a free 16 oz bottle of their Odor Absorbing Spray to the first 2,000 residents. To receive your free bottle, bring proof of Herriman residency, such as utility bill, phone bill or drivers license.

“I have experienced this personally with my children. It touches an emotional chord with me when I think about what these families have been through” Becky Anderson, For Every Home Chairman.
